Mrs. Valencia Kozlovsky-4th Grade

Welcome to Room 3-G2

Welcome to Fouth grade. I am very excited to begin a new school year and meet everyone. Beginning a new school year means making new friends and learning new things. Let's make this year your best year ever at Bay Laurel. I am happy to introduce our class webpage! You will find everything you need to know about our class within these pages. Every Monday, a weekly newsletter is displayed below. On the homework tab, daily assignments are posted. On the last tab, you can read all about our classroom's schedules, policies, and procedures. Happy exploring!

Communication

If there is anything you or your child need, never hesistate to ask. I would like to build a strong bond with not only the children, but also the amazing parents. If your child needs tutoring i will be avalible aslong as there is a schedule time.

Homework Policy

Your child will be given a homework assiagnment everynight, unless stated otherwise with an additional 30 minutes of reading every night.

Language Arts

We will be reading "The Lightning Theif". There will be a test once we finish this selection. Please make sure if your child takes home their book, they return it the very next day. If books are left at home, it makes it very difficult for students to complete their assignments.

Spelling Words
Spelling words will be given out every Monday, with a managable amount of words to study and practice

(Quizzes at the end of Friday will be based off Monday's vocabulary list)

Science

Recognize Earth's natural resources, and explain how they interact with each other.

Math

We will learning about FRACTIONS! In class we will practice the use of fractions using real world examples and with the help of different tools and examples.

Social Studies

In Social Studies we'll learn all about Canada's Regions. At the end of this lesson every student will get to choose a region of their choice and then do a project based of the information they learned. More information will be given a week in advanced.

 December Parent Conferences

You will soon be getting an email from me from Sign UpGenius asking you to sign up for upcoming Parent Conferences for our class which will be held the week after. Please select one of the day/timeslots for our parent conference. Please also use this website if you need to make any changes.

Due to the number of conferences that need to be held, please be mindful that conferences will begin and end promptly at your scheduled time. Dismissal for that week will be at 12:15 to allow for scheduled conferences. I will look forward to meeting you to discuss your child's progress.

Reading Log

Part of your child’s homework is to read for 30 minutes every night.  Each night, your child should fill in the number of minutes read on the log and obtain a parent initial at the end of the week.  When we use the language arts textbook, the anthology stories sent home count as minutes read.  The Red Reading Folder (RRF) should be kept in the binder.  I will check the log at the end of the week. Please encourage your child to complete the log and return it when school every Friday.

Please check out the Scholastic Book Order class website forOnline Ordering.

Parent/Teacher Communication

Communication is very important to me.  Please don’t hesitate to ask me questions or voice your concerns.

I hope that you find my newsletters informative.  I will be writing a newsletter every week.  My newsletters will briefly outline what we are studying in the classroom and upcoming events.

The best way to contact me is through e-mail.  My e-mail address is v.kozlovsky@baylaurel.tcps.com. Otherwise, write a note in your child’s homework assignment book or leave a message on my voicemail with the best time to call back.  Please remember that I cannot respond to e-mail or phone calls until the end of the day.

A conference schedule will be arranged at the end of the first semester.  Your child’s first report card will be distributed at this time.
